Jonathon Greenlaw, son of William & Jane was born about 1738, probably inScotland. He died in St. Andrews, N.B., Canada in 1818, aged eighty years. Jonathon Greenlaw and his brothers Charles, Alexander and Ebenezer, and his father (or brother), William, came to Deer Isle (now Deer Isle and Stonington) in or before 1762: and they settled on Campbell's Neck. They were loyalists, and were suspected of carrying information to the British at Bagaduce, (Castine and vicinity): After Bagaduce was taken by the British in 1779, the Greenlaw family went there to live, probably being driven there by public opinion. When Bagaduce was evacuated by the Royal Forces in 1783, Jonathon Greenlaw and two of his brothers moved to the British provinces, with their families.Johnathon and his family settling in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. William Greenlaw Jr., remained in Maine where he lived in St. George.
