"Harold E. Thaden Harold E. Thaden, 86 yrs. old, a native of Tacoma, died August 28, 1996. He was a Bellarmine Booster, a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Ann's Catholic Church. Harold Thaden was a self taught, self made man. His principles of kindness and generosity guided his personal life and his dedication to hard work and the model of St. Joseph, the patron saint of workers, guided his professional career. Harold enjoyed annual hunting trips with his brothers and friends. He was an excellent salmon and steelhead angler and later in life played golf and enjoyed nature hikes. Harold's hard work and kindness gave him a heart with room for everyone and our hearts will be less full with his passing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Eileen, 3 sisters, Victoria, Eva and Florence and 2 brothers Earl and John and is survived by 1 daughter Alanna (Brian) Hartzell, Gig Harbor; 2 sisters Lenore Bombardier, Tacoma and Ruth Anderson, Everett; 2 brothers Bill Thaden, Tacoma and John Thaden, Gig Harbor; grandson Griffin Hartzell and best friends John and Vince. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 31, 10am at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. After the interment services a reception will follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall for family and friends. Rosary will be recited Friday, August 30, at 7:00 pm at 1002 South Yakima Avenue Chapel. His given name was Gerd Luken Thaden born on 18 Aug 1836 at 11:00 a.m. in Willen, Hannover, Prussia, Germany and baptized on Sept 9 at the Pastors house. His parents are Thade Mammen Thaden and Teelke Margareta Weerts ---but one son's birth record says Weerts or Stindt so she goes by both names. The record also gives 3 sponsors at his baptism. One of them is his future father-in-law. The film # is 1,256,916 from Wittmund, Hannover, Prussia, Germany. His entry is #46. I am a descendant from Eilert Ludwig Thaden. Please correct your record. "William H. Thaden William H. Thaden, 92, died Jan. 16, 1997, in Tacoma. He was born Sept. 3, 1904, to William and Eva (Demers) Thaden in Tacoma and grew up and attended school in Tacoma. On June 18, 1929 he married Delia Farley in Tacoma where they made their home. Delia preceded him in death on March 24, 1988. William was a very active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, a member and past officer of Knights of Columbus, Serra Club and Bellarmine Boosters. He was most at peace when he was outdoors enjoying hunting or fishing. After retiring from his business, Thaden Upholstery Store, William became a local real estate agent. In his spare time, he taught upholstery to senior citizens. His family and the world of nature were most important to him. William is survived by daughters, Kathleen (William) Judge, Quincy, WA, Marilyn (David) Dexter, Seattle and British Columbia; sisters, Lenore Bombardier, Tacoma, Ruth Anderson, Port Angeles; brother, John Thaden, Gig Harbor; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Mon., Jan. 20, 1997, 12 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Viewing will be at the church on Mon. at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the loving and caring staff at Franciscan Health Care Center of Tacoma. The family suggests memorials may be made in William's memory to St. Patrick School.
