Hugh L. Stonebraker: April 11, 1880 - November 21, 1953

"Ellensburg Man Taken by Death"

"A Kittitas Valley resident for the past 62 years, Hugh L. Stonebraker, 73, died Saturday night at his home in Ellensburg.  He had been in failing health for several years.

Born April 11, 1880, in Kansas, Stonebraker came here from Seattle with his parents at the age of 11.  He was a former employee of the Ellensburg Lumber Co. and operated a farm on the West Side for 35 years.  He also worked for the Kittitas County Dairymen's Association for several years before his retirement in 1949.

He was married to Narcissus Jones on April 11, 1950 at Hakima.  He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Ellensburg.

Stonebraker is survived by his wife, at the Ellensburg home; a sister, Mrs. Nora Clark, Montour, Idaho; two step-daughters, Mrs. Sam Hollenbeck, Livingston, Mont., and Mrs. Gerald McNeil, Ellensburg; and a step-son, George Needham of Seattle.

The Rev. Miller C. Lovett will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Evenson Chapel.  Burial will take place at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Clarence Jones, Clarence Brown, Harry Rice, Charles Peeler, Ernest Fetters and Dan Bates."
